অজানাকে জানার চেষ্টা আমাদের বরাবরই। আর সেই লক্ষ্যেই আরও এক ধাপ এগিয়ে গিয়েছে বিজ্ঞানীরা। আজকের এই দিনটি বিজ্ঞানের গবেষণার ইতিহাসে অবিস্বরণীয় একটি দিন। কারন ২০০৮ সালের এই দিনে মহাবিশ্বে ঘটে যাওয়া জানা-অজানার ছোট থেকে ছোট তথ্য খোঁজার উদ্দেশ্যে অবশেষে চালু হয় লার্জ হেডরন কোলাইডার বা এলএইচসি নামের একটি মহাযন্ত্র। বলা হয়ে থাকে ঈশ্বরের কণা এর খোঁজ করতেই এই গবেষণা। আসলে সৃষ্টির শুরু যে বিগ ব্যাং, এর পূর্বাবস্থা এবং সবচেয়ে প্রাচীন কণা কে নিয়ে গবেষণার জন্য এই প্রজেক্ট, যেখানে কৃত্রিম ভাবে বিগ ব্যাং এর পরিবেশ সৃষ্টি করা হয়।

এটি ভূগর্ভের প্রায় একশো মিটার নীচে অবস্থিত বৃত্তাকার একটি টানেল। যার ব্যাস ২৭ কিলোমিটার৷ এখন পর্যন্ত বিজ্ঞানের ইতিহাসে আবিষ্কৃত যন্ত্রের মধ্যে এটিই সবচেয়ে জটিল মেশিন৷ যা বানাতে খরচ হয়েছে প্রায় ৩.৭৬ বিলিয়ন ইউরো৷ আর সময় লেগেছে কত জানেন? প্রায় দুই দশক!

২০০৮ সালের আজকের এই দিনে মেশিনটি চালু করা হয়। এই মহাযন্ত্র থেকে প্রাপ্ত তথ্য পেতে 'দ্য গ্রিড' নামের এক বিশেষ নেটওয়ার্কের মাধ্যমে সারা বিশ্বের অসংখ্য কম্পিউটার যন্ত্রটির সাথে যুক্ত করা হয়েছে।

জেনেভা শহরের অদূরে অবস্থিত সুইস-ফরাসী সীমান্তে ইউরোপীয় পরমাণু গবেষণা সংস্থা (সিইআরএন)-এর বিজ্ঞানীরা কণার রশ্মি ভাঙার এই মেগাযন্ত্র প্রথমবারের মতো চালু করেন ১০ই সেপ্টেম্বর ২০০৮ সালে।  ধারণা করা হয়, এখন পর্যন্ত বিজ্ঞানের আবিষ্কার করা সকল যন্ত্রের মধ্যে লার্জ হেডরন কোলাইডারই ছিল সবচেয়ে ব্যয়বহুল একটি যন্ত্র। বিশ্বব্রহ্মাণ্ডের সৃষ্টির রহস্য ভেদ করতেই মূলত বিজ্ঞানীরা এই আবিষ্কারের দিকে মনোনিবেশ করেছেন। ‘বিগ ব্যাং'-এর পর যখন বিশ্ব ব্রহ্মাণ্ডের সৃষ্টি হলো, তখন সব মৌলিক শক্তি ঐক্যবদ্ধ ছিল৷ সে সময়কার অবস্থা ঠিক কেমন ছিল? সৃষ্টির সময়কার সেই রহস্য ভেদ করতেই ব্যাতিব্যস্ত হয়ে ওঠা বিজ্ঞানীদের আবিষ্কারের ফলাফলই হল এই লার্জ হেডরন কোলাইডার!

Human are curious in nature. Scientists have moved to one more step ahead to meet the curiosity. This day is a remarkable day in the history of research science. Because of this, on this day of 2008, a small epic machine called Led Hedon Collider (LHC), finally launched to find the smallest known and unknown information that is happening in the universe. It is said that the research is mainly conducted to get information about God's particle.

It is a round tunnel which is located about a hundred meters below the ground. Its diameter is 27 kilometers. This is the most complex machine in the history of science. It cost around 3.76 billion Euros to make this machine. Do you know how much time it took? Around two decades!

On this day of 2008, the machine was introduced. To get the information from this machine, a special network called 'The Grid' has been linked with numerous computer machines around the world.

At the border between Geneva and the Swiss-French border, scientists of the European Atomic Research Agency (CERN) launched this mega-machine of particle rays for the first time on September 10, 2008. It is believed that, till now, Large Hadron Collider is the most expensive machines discovered in science. To explore the mystery of creation, scientists have focused on this topic. When the universe was formed after 'Big Bang', all the basic powers were united. How was the situation then?
